Some people like to develop reports in BIDS and then want to deploy their reports from command line into a SharePoint.
one such tool is here
http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Publish-report-to-0ca69662
But this is so complex and I wonder why should so much complexity be required in order to specify soap endpoints and report server paths and all.
why not simply copy rdl and data source file to doc libs?
Am I missing something?
Also, when I do BIDS development. How can I directly point to an SharePoint data source? I think that there is a mismatch between BIDS and SharePoint because bids creates a different data source file than what SharePoint understands.... I think when you publish at that time some conversion occurs.
But that really round about. I think BIDS people should point to existing data sources in SharePoint and create reports and then simply copy the reports into a document library as part of automatic deployment.
